Twenty Things I Liked in Twenty-Twelve
One of the nicest things about the past year has the been the re-emergence of design. I seem to be seeing far more clothing on the runways that appears as if it was created from complicated pattern than decorated post-construction. I call it the Post-Margiela Era because the designer himself seemed to be a casualty of the embellishment era: ca. 2001-2010. I’ve read that even the watered-down Margiela/H&M collaboration didn’t too well, but I suppose that the public is still invested in buying sequin-encrusted tank dresses and cheap leather pumps with studs on the heels. It’s too bad, because well-cut, well-crafted clothing seems to be on the cutting edge in 2012.
