Vetiver

Vetiver

Vetiver: A perennial grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides), native to India, mainly cultivated for the fragrant essential oil distilled from its roots.  According to Wikipedia, its “odor is described as deep, sweet, woody, smoky, earthy, amber, and balsam.”  As a fixative, it is estimated that 90% of perfumes in the western marketplace contain vetiver, with men’s fragrances containing higher concentrations.
