Stella Tennant

Stella Tennant

Oh, I have a busy night ahead of me!

The Met Gala, celebrating the opening of the exhibit “Punk: Chaos to Couture” is tonight.  I pinched this gorgeous photo of Stella Tennant from vogue.com (click the link above) where it appears in a slideshow entitled “Punk Fashion in Vogue.”  Now we all know that “Vogue” is the furthest thing from punk, but at least they try.  Stella Tennant is a good choice of model for a layout like this because she exemplifies the spirit of individuality that underlies any rebellion against fashion.  Don’t let her blue blood pedigree fool you: she’s as punk as they come.

I’d love to see Stella on the Met Gala red carpet in that John Galliano for Christian Dior Haute Couture gown that Courtney Love wore to the 2000 Golden Globes (perhaps my favorite red carpet dress of all time).  Unfortunately, I won’t be watching the live-stream of the red carpet arrivals because I’ve got plans. And on top of those plans, I also have to watch “Dancing with the Stars” and the season finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

So once I catch up on all these shows, I’ll post a few thoughts on the Met Gala before I return to more important duties, including promoting “Wear a Gown to Work Day” on May 31.  I’m sure I sound like a broken record when I promise to blog more, but that’s the way it is when you’ve devoted your life to so many important causes.  Where would reality TV be now if it wasn’t for people like me who support the industry by watching sixty hours of television a week?
