2004 Haute-Couture fashion show: Christian Dior - Paris

Egypt-mania has had a couple of good runs in the last century or so.  The first was in the twenties just after the discovery of King Tut’s tomb.  The second was in the seventies when the treasures of that tomb went on a worldwide tour.  A few more tours of different objects have since traveled the globe (including one that wrapped up in Seattle earlier this year).

I would be thrilled if this “aesthetic” had a bit of a comeback; just look at what a designer like John Galliano can do with the theme!  Plus, I’m looking for something shiny to wear on New Year’s Eve . . .
