Forty Fads I’d Like To See Again

leave a comment »

I’ve been increasingly frustrated the past few days as I’ve attempted to communicate with people who were simultaneously talking on their cell phones.  Either they attempted to engage me while they were in the middle of another conversation (essentially putting me “on hold” with their gestures), or they answered a call while I was talking to them.  These incidents have made me feel nostalgic for the old-fashioned device pictured above — the one that was attached to a wall somewhere in your house, out-of-the-way where it wasn’t such a nuisance.

I’d be happy if we could put phones “out-of-the-way” again.  However, I know that isn’t going to happen. Perhaps I can start another fad to counteract bad cell phone manners.  Maybe I’ll just walk away from anyone who answers a call while they’re talking to me.  If you can put me on hold, I can hang up on you.  Turnaround is fair play, right?
