Happy birthday, Ozwald Boateng.  I see that you were voted 2014’s “Worst Dressed Man” by British “GQ” and a panel that included Donatella Versace.  Hmmm . . .

Paris When It Fizzles

Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten

Your old Auntie Fashion had a terribly stressful week last week.  As a result, I wasn’t really blogging much about Milan Fashion Week, and now Paris has arrived and my enthusiasm for the event has already fizzled out.  I’ve got other things on my mind.  Still, I was able to click through a couple of shows just a moment ago and let me just say this: Dries Van Noten F/W 2014 was the prettiest Prada collection I’ve ever seen.

Anyway, now I’m completely distracted by my upcoming trip to Las Vegas in mid-March and the return of many of my beloved reality TV programs that debuted late because of the Winter Olympics.  Maybe I’ll get around to reviewing some more fashion shows, and maybe I won’t.  All I know is that much of the stress I’ve been feeling has been managed by a few extra trips to the gym, and I’m looking better than ever.  Yes, there is a Zob!

Sabrina

Sabrina

Just like “America’s Next Top Model,” most BB casts include a requisite plus-sized girl.  Of course, she never really gets near the finale, but that’s just the way it goes on TV.  Unless you’re Rebel Wilson or Melissa McCarthy, casting agents will tell you that prime time audiences don’t want to look at you.

It would really be great to see someone like Sabrina get to the end of the game just because it hasn’t happened before.  I’m not rooting for her in practice, but rather in theory.  She’ll probably change all that when she shows up acting like Teresa Giudice’s long-lost sister.  I guess time will tell.

Pros: Having a makeup artist/hairdresser in the house might be good because many contestants get complacent about their appearance on this show, growing uglier every day on the live feeds.

Cons: Claims that she would have a showmance with Peter Brown.  Gross!

First Impression Grade: B-.

Rachelle

Rachelle

I wanted to support Rachelle when I read in her bio that she’s from my hometown.  However, just a few lines later I came across this nugget:

Q: Side Show Showdown! Who would you take to final two, Gary Levy or Peter Brown, and why?

A: Peter Brown! Oh my god, I love Peter. He is so smart and I think he played a great game – he could have won lots of competitions but he laid low on purpose, which I thought was a really smart strategy.”

Did she even watch the show?

Pros: Isn’t Peter Brown.

Cons: Everything else.

First Impression Grade: F.

Paul

Paul

At forty-three-years-old, Paul is the oldest contestant in the history of Big Brother Canada.  I’d like to give Robyn Kass kudos for casting someone over forty, but I can’t.  Her modus operandi is to include people in this age group who are no threat whatsoever in the physical challenges.  Last season we had thirty-eight-year-old Andrew Monaghan who talked about himself as if he already had one foot in the grave.  With far more sunsets behind me, all I can talk about is how great it would be to kick the ass of people half my age. “Survivor” casts able-bodied people in their forties all the time.  What does Kass have against them?

Anyway, I don’t resent Paul for being in his forties.  I do, however, resent him for listing his occupation as a “motivational speaker.”  Perhaps I had the wrong strategy for casting when I told the casting agents that I was a “demotivational speaker.”  Hmm . . .

Pros: A shiny, bald head I could rub for luck.

Cons: Everything else.

First Impression Grade: D.
